Whistler, B.C. – Tourism Whistler has been awarded with the Destination Marketing Accreditation Program (DMAP) seal of approval by Destinations International in recognition for its commitment to industry excellence and fulfillment of best practices in performance and accountability measures collected from world-wide destination organizations.

“We are pleased to have Tourism Whistler join our distinguished group of professionals,” says Don Welsh, President and CEO of Destinations International. “The industry distinction defines quality and performance standards for destination organizations and I look forward to welcoming Whistler to the DMAP community.”

The accreditation program requires a destination organization to successfully comply with a multitude of mandatory and voluntary standards. The standards cover aspects related to the management of destination organizations including governance, finance, human resources, marketing, sales, communications, destination development and research.

“To be welcomed into the DMAP community is a great honour for Tourism Whistler,” says Barrett Fisher, Tourism Whistler’s President and CEO. “DMAP accreditation is a rigorous process measuring destination tourism organizations against established global standards. We therefore are very pleased to be receiving this prestigious independent endorsement confirming Tourism Whistler’s professionalism and proficiency as a destination marketing and management organization.”

As a destination tourism organization, Tourism Whistler is responsible for developing coordinated strategies in the areas of research, product development, marketing and sales to promote Whistler all over the world as the year-round mountain resort of choice. Tourism Whistler now joins the ranks of more than 200 destination organizations that have obtained DMAP recognition.
