Whistler, B.C. – It’s Tourism Week in B.C., and as the province’s year-round playground of choice for millions of visitors each year, Whistler is celebrating with news that readers of Ultratravel magazine have once again made Whistler their number one choice.

For the third consecutive year, Whistler has been named the best ski resort in the world in the prestigious ULTRAS awards. The ULTRAS are presented by Ultratravel magazine and honour the best in luxury travel from around the globe.

Ultratravel is luxury travel magazine, distributed with the best-selling UK daily newspaper, the Daily Telegraph. The winners of the 2017 ULTRAS awards were determined by Ultratravel readers who voted across 19 categories ranging from the best in airlines, hotels, tour operators, golf resort and more.

The award winners will be listed online and in the summer 2017 issue of Ultratravel, published with the Daily Telegraph on May 27.

“We are excited that Whistler has been recognised consistently by readers of Ultratravel magazine as the best ski resort in the world,” said Barrett Fisher, Tourism Whistler’s President & CEO. “What exciting news to share, as we kick off Tourism Week across the province,” Fisher said.

“This recognition is an honour for the resort, recognizing the commitment and hard work of our business community and partners who go to such great lengths, year after year, to ensure that Whistler is delivering an exceptional guest experience. Congratulations to our business members, and thank you to the readers of Ultratravel magazine for this esteemed award.”

The award was presented by Princess Beatrice, who attended the ULTRAS awards in support of the charity, Children in Crisis. Ultratravel and Telegraph readers will have the opportunity to support Children in Crisis by bidding on travel experiences donated by the ULTRAS awards attendees.

In celebration of Tourism Week, Tourism Whistler will be sharing stories throughout the week on @GoWhistler’s social media platforms using the hashtag #BCTourismMatters.

Those working in the tourism industry are encouraged to enter go2HR’s contest; by sharing why they love working in the tourism industry, for a chance to win a $150 Visa gift card.

Tourism professionals throughout the province are also encouraged to share their stories with the Power of Tourism initiative.
