Whistler, B.C. – For the latest and greatest on all things Whistler this summer, people working in the resort will not want to miss the annual Inside Scoop resort tradeshow.

The Inside Scoop is an important event, bringing together resort employees and various businesses from each sector.

Taking place each year at the start of both the summer and winter seasons, the trade show has come a long way since its inception in 2006.

Jody Hallett, Tourism Whistler’s Manager of Visitor Experience, and the lead organizer of the tradeshow, has been instrumental in its growth and is excited for the upcoming event.

“We have representation from all of our business sectors,” Hallett said. “We facilitate what has become a really important resort-wide initiative that helps to connect all of our businesses with the employees who are having those one-to-one conversations with our guests. Whether you have a business that caters to guests, or you are an employee working with visitors in any way, the Inside Scoop is where you need to be.” she said. “The tradeshow is important as it ensures that all of our frontline employees are educated on the resort offerings and are able to offer consistent information to our guests.”

Initially, the tradeshow started as a product training session with approximately 20 businesses meeting with teams from the Whistler Visitor Centre and the Village Host volunteers. Today, the tradeshow, organized by Tourism Whistler and the Resort Municipality of Whistler, hosts more than 100 exhibitors and welcomes more than 600 attendees, including frontline staff, concierges, front desk agents, activity guides, reservation and information agents, volunteers, business managers and owners.

“The resort information trade show is a fantastic opportunity for local businesses to connect with Whistler’s frontline staff,” said Ryan Brown, of Coastal Culture, a Whistler business and Tourism Whistler member.

“As a relatively new business, and a new Tourism Whistler member, it’s been really important for us to leverage this event to help us make those important connections,” he said.

“The Inside Scoop brings everyone together in one central location. Everyone here is involved in tourism and it’s important that we work together to deliver exceptional guest experiences and part of being able to do that is to make sure that you and your staff know and understand all of the businesses and what they have to offer our guests. At the trade show, we make sure we are connecting with the other businesses in Whistler and the employees who are talking to Whistler’s guests. And the flipside of that is that we want our team to also know what’s out there and what’s new.”

This year’s Inside Scoop takes place at the Whistler Conference Centre on Monday, June 12 from 2-6 p.m.

Anyone working with visitors is encouraged to attend to learn more about the many businesses and their offerings. There is no cost to attend and guests will enjoy free food and drinks and the chance to win fabulous prizes.
