Whistler, BC – Skiers and snowboarders will be gearing up a little bit sooner than anticipated when Whistler Mountain opens one day earlier than scheduled, on Wednesday, November 23.

Early season snowfall in the alpine combined with a helping hand from the largest fleet of snowmaking equipment in North America led Whistler Blackcomb to announce last week that Whistler Mountain will open one day earlier than expected, on Wednesday, November 23. Blackcomb Mountain will open as scheduled on Thursday, November 24.

Snow has been steadily stacking up in the alpine, with Whistler Blackcomb recording 107 cm (42 inches) of cumulative snowfall so far this season, with more on the way. The forecast is calling for 35 cm (13 inches) to 45 cm (17 inches) of snow expected to hit the mountains before Friday!

When Whistler Mountain's lifts start spinning on Wednesday, guests will have the option to upload from either the Whistler Village Gondola or the Creekside Gondola. Blackcomb Mountain will open as scheduled on Thursday, November 24 with the option to upload via Excalibur Gondola and Excelerator Express or the Wizard and Solar Coaster Express. Skiers and snowboarders will begin uploading at 8:30 a.m. with the last upload from the valley at 2:00 p.m. and the lifts on mountain running until 3:00 p.m. Mandatory download will be in effect with limited terrain open and early season hazards.
