Whistler, BC – Whistler has steadily grown its mud-repertoire since 2012 when the resort hosted the inaugural Tough Mudder Whistler event.

In 2015, Mudderella – an obstacle mud run created for women, by woman – was added to the calendar. In 2016, not only will Tough Mudder and Mudderella return, but Whistler will also host Canada’s first Tough Mudder Half event – opening up the full ‘Mudder’ experience in half the distance.

To celebrate, Tourism Whistler and Tough Mudder are giving away two epic prize packages for the perfect Mudder-getaway at Tough Mudder and Tough Mudder Half. The prize includes flights, ground transfers, accommodation for three nights, dining certificates, Whistler activities and entry into the event. The contest runs from May 9 – 29. Tough Mudder Whistler, June 18-19
Tough Mudder is back for its fifth installment of grit and comradery. The (in)famous 16-20-kilometre military-style course features 20-25 world-class obstacles, specially crafted to test the strength, stamina and team work of participants.  Tough Mudder Whistler’s breath-taking course offers participants a truly unique experience, teaming mountainous landscapes and stunning views with ice water plunges, electrical shocks, crawling, climbing and more. Tough Mudder Whistler was recently crowned the Canadian Sport Event of the Year (Group B) at the 10th annual PRESTIGE Awards.

Tough Mudder Half Whistler, June 25
This year, Tough Mudder has introduced the new Tough Mudder Half, geared towards those new to the Tough Mudder experience and who may not be ready to partake in the full challenge. The course at Whistler Olympic Park offers signature Tough Mudder obstacles that guarantee an adrenaline-pumping, mud-drenched experience, and it’s only half the distance (8-10 kilometres). Tough Mudder Half won’t include more daunting obstacles, like those with ice & electricity found on the full course, but will include 12-15 epic and challenging obstacles. High fun ratio and less time between the start line and victory beers are just two reasons to do the Tough Mudder Half Whistler, read more here.

Mudderella Whistler, September 24
Mudderella – launched in 2013 as another addition to the Tough Mudder, Inc. family of brands – is an 8-11-kilometre mud run and obstacle course created for women, by women. Last year’s inaugural event saw great success with hordes of ladies getting muddy in the name of fun and fitness. The 2016 course will feature new obstacles that are sure to push teams to their limits. Mudderella is the perfect excuse for a girls’ weekend getaway, with a surplus of luxury amenities and activities for everyone to enjoy – all just a stone’s throw away. Pro tip: post-event, be sure to take the time to relish some (well-deserved) rest and relaxation.

Rest and relaxation is an essential – and arguably the most enjoyable – component of the ‘Mudder’ experience. Never fear, Whistler has this down to a fine art.  With a variety of award-winning hotels, dining establishments, spas and more – Whistler is the ultimate destination for mud and adventure.

Post-race; put your feet up, and treat yourself to the finer things in life. Be it a few beers on a sun-soaked patio, a restorative float at West Coast Float, a delicious meal with team-mates, a gentle peddle along Whistler’s Valley Trail or keep the adrenaline pumping with the seemingly endless adventure tours available.
