Whistler, BC – It’s spring in Whistler and that means one thing – there’s no better time to enjoy all that the resort has to offer. And when we say all, we really mean it – spring in Whistler is that magical time of year when the seasons come together and guests can ski, bike and golf.

Blackcomb Mountain is open for skiing and riding until May 30 with winter outerwear giving way to T-shirts and sunglasses; the area’s four championship golf courses will all be open by early May, offering an unparalleled big mountain golf experience; the cross country bike trails are in epic spring condition and, to top it all off, the world-renowned Whistler Mountain Bike Park opens for the season May 20.

We call it the “Whistler triathlon” – ski, bike and golf (or create your own version with your three favourite activities). It's possible to do it all in one day, but honestly, why would you want to rush it?

Also on the calendar for May is the The Great Outdoors Festival (GO Fest) on the Victoria Day long weekend, May 20-23.

GO Fest features four days of concerts, demonstrations and events to welcome the warmer months and get everyone out and enjoying Whistler’s great outdoors. Looking to learn a new skill? Why not join the GO sailing clinic, Nicklaus North golf clinics, the digital camera photography workshop or the GO fish demonstration and industry session. Channel your inner George of the jungle at the Treetop Adventure Race where you climb, jump and swing your way through a treetop course. Crud 2 Mud – a festival favourite – places the season's activity crossover in the spotlight. In teams or individually, competitors ski or snowboard from the top of Whistler Mountain to their bikes, where they then continue the race through the Whistler Mountain Bike Park.

GO Fest presents a free outdoor concert series every evening from 7:30 p.m. in the Village Square; Friday night will feature Dan Mangan, two-time JUNO and Polaris Music Prize winner. Alex Cuba will take the stage on Saturday night with his groovy, upbeat soul music and The Matinee will close GO Fest on Sunday with an energetic performance indicative of their alternative folk rock sound.

The Bici Gusti Gourmet Ride (May 22) is a new event created for those with an "insatiable love of gourmet food and cycling." Warm up for summer with an early season 70-km spin with an intimate group of 70 riders through the Whistler and Callaghan valleys. The route offers scenic views of the coastal mountains, moderate climbs and flowing descents. Post ride, you will enjoy a dinner crafted with ingredients produced within a 70-km radius by head Chef of the Four Seasons Vancouver, Ned Bell. Bici Guisti, produced by RBC GranFondo, is a cycling event for the lover of gourmet food, beautiful scenery and adventure.
