Whistler, B.C. – Whistler celebrates Canada with vibrant and exciting events in July.

Whistler pays homage to this great nation on July 1 with Canada Day festivities starting with an enchanted forest-themed parade along the Village Stroll at noon, a Canada Day ceremony at 2:30 p.m. in Whistler Olympic Plaza, followed with a free outdoor concert by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (VSO).

Following the Canada Day concert and celebrations, the VSO will return to Whistler Olympic Plaza stage July 3 and 4, with the full orchestra playing under Whistler’s starry night sky, kicking off at 8 p.m.

Sunday, July 5, the Whistler Institute Orchestra will perform their inaugural concert. The Vancouver Symphony Orchestral Institute in Whistler allows young musicians an unforgettable learning experience, led by the VSO’s internationally-acclaimed music director, Maestro Bramwell Tovey.

The Canada Day VSO concert officially launches the 2015 Whistler Presents Outdoor Concert Series, setting the tone for a summer season of endless entertainment. From July 1, music aficionados can delight in free entertainment, in the iconic outdoor setting of Whistler Olympic Plaza until mid-September. Guests are encouraged to bring a blanket or a chair, relax on the great lawn and enjoy the show – not to mention the remarkable backdrop.

The summer concert series presents 14 outstanding outdoor concerts ranging from Blue Rodeo and Michael Franti to the Great Lake Swimmers.
