Whistler, B.C. – With soaring temperatures and an abundance of events and activities to enjoy, Whistler in August is a summer fun seeker’s dream.

Wanderlust Whistler kicks it all off with five days of yoga, meditation, guest speakers, music, art and outdoor activities. Some of the world’s top yoga teachers and renowned speakers will represent a range of yoga disciplines and teaching styles. Wanderlust runs until August 4 with sessions and activities throughout the resort. Read the Whistler Insider’s guide to Wanderlust for inspiration and insights.

Also in August, the Canadian Orienteering Championships bring participants from across the country to various locations in the Village, on Whistler Mountain and at Lost Lake Park while the Bulleit Bourbon Canadian National BBQ Championships heat things up at Dusty’s in Whistler’s Creekside.

The Whistler Farmer’s Market takes over Upper Village with offerings of fresh produce, baked goods and treats on Sundays (11 a.m. – 4 p.m.) and Wednesdays ( 3-7 p.m.) throughout the summer.

From August 8-17, Whistler welcomes the Crankworx Freeride Mountain Bike Festival featuring some of the best riders in the world. Crankworx is a great spectator event and, new this year is the Kidsworx and Familyworx programs, opening up the festival to an even broader audience.

If music is your motivation, you won’t want to miss the Whistler Presents Outdoor Concert Series with free weekend concerts scheduled throughout August.

At the end of the month, Whistler goes to the dogs with the DockDogs Canadian Western Regionals event, featuring a number of competitive canine events.

About the FE&A program
Celebration is an essential aspect of Whistler culture. This was highlighted during the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games when the community presented the most outstanding display of sport, entertainment and culture the resort had ever seen. The Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) and resort partners continue to build on that momentum through the Festivals, Events and Animation (FE&A) program to develop and attract a wide range of high-quality, year-round programming, including an exciting line-up of festivals, events and entertainment for all ages and audiences.

The FE&A program is funded by the Province of British Columbia’s Resort Municipality Initiative (RMI), which invests in programs and projects to build tourism throughout BC. The FE&A program is overseen by the FE&A Oversight Committee comprised of staff from the RMOW and Tourism Whistler, a community member at large and a Whistler council representative.
