Whistler, B.C. – Whether it’s taking in a mountain-top barbecue, frolicking at the beach and in the water, exploring the Valley Trail on bicycles or taking in the never-ending entertainment lineup, summer in Whistler is the perfect family escape.

In addition to the abundance of summer activities, the resort hosts the Whistler Children’s Festival July 12 and 13 at Whistler Olympic Plaza in the Village. The popular festival weekend includes hands-on workshops, crafts, multi-media, dance, music and much more. The festival takes place in Whistler Olympic Plaza, in the heart of Whistler, offering a beautiful outdoor family friendly space complete with stage, lawn and playground.

Dating back more than 30 years, the festival has become part of the fabric of a Whistler summer, offering workshops, entertainment and fun for locals and visitors alike. Art workshops are available for children aged 3 and up and provide a variety of options including soap stone carvings, circus skills, shaggy shakers, tin can robots, patio lanterns and more. Live performances including popular children’s bands, plays and demonstrations with special appearances by the Vancouver Circus School will keep everyone entertained.

The family faq gives vacationers all the answers they’ll need when planning their family vacation at Whistler while the family friendly fun itinerary provides a selection of favourite things to do with kids in Whistler.

About the FE&A program
Celebration is an essential aspect of Whistler culture. This was highlighted during the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games when the community presented the most outstanding display of sport, entertainment and culture the resort had ever seen. The Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) and resort partners continue to build on that momentum through the Festivals, Events and Animation (FE&A) program to develop and attract a wide range of high-quality, year-round programming, including an exciting line-up of festivals, events and entertainment for all ages and audiences.

The FE&A program is funded by the Province of British Columbia’s Resort Municipality Initiative (RMI), which invests in programs and projects to build tourism throughout BC. The FE&A program is overseen by the FE&A Oversight Committee comprised of staff from the RMOW and Tourism Whistler, a community member at large and a Whistler council representative. Learn more about the FE&A program.
