Whistler, B.C. – March madness takes on an entirely different meaning when Mother Nature gets involved.

More than two feet of snow has fallen at Whistler in the last seven days (eight inches, or 21 centimetres in the last 24 hours) and an additional 13 inches (32 centimetres) is forecast to accumulate by Friday.

With spring break just around the corner, an exciting lineup of events on the calendar and a variety of winter packages offering savings and adventure, it’s a great time to visit Whistler.

The longest running Canadian snowboard competition returns to Whistler March 14-15 with the 17th annual Showcase Showdown.

The province’s best bobsleigh, skeleton and luge athletes will take to the track at the Whistler Sliding Centre this month with the BC Bobsleigh and Skeleton provincial championships March 15-16 and the BC Luge Association championships March 15-16.

The 2014 Canadian Alpine Championships on Whistler Mountain feature national alpine and para-alpine events in March, while the ski cross competitors take to the slopes in April.

Whistler Olympic Park hosts the National Championships for Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined March 27-29 and the Woppet cross country ski event March 30.

The village comes alive with the fire and ice show every Sunday at the base of the mountains while Mondays and Wednesdays welcome Family Après at Whistler Olympic Plaza with a variety of events and entertainment.
