Tourism Whistler Board names new chair and vice chair


Whistler, B.C. – Following the May 2013 annual general meeting and board election, Tourism Whistler’s Board of Directors named a new chair and vice chair at the June board retreat.

Saad Hasan, who holds the director position of Single-Managed Lodging – Small, has been appointed to the position of board chair. Having previously held the position of vice chair, Hasan now replaces Roger Soane as board chair. Soane, who served as board chair for four years, remains on the board in the position of Multi-Managed Lodging – Other.

“On behalf of the board, I’d like to thank Roger Soane for the leadership and direction he has provided as board chair,” said Hasan. “Roger has led the Tourism Whistler board for many years, showing diligence and unwavering commitment.”

Norman Mastalir, who holds the director position of Single-Managed Lodging – Large, has been named vice-chair.

Tourism Whistler is governed by a 12-member Board of Directors – five appointed and seven elected. Elected director positions include Commercial, Single-Managed Lodging – Large, Single-Managed Lodging – Small, Multi-Managed Lodging – Village, Multi-Managed Lodging – Benchlands, Multi-Managed Lodging – Other and Director-At-Large. Appointed director positions include two representatives from the Resort Municipality of Whistler, two representatives from Whistler Blackcomb and the President & CEO of Tourism Whistler.

All elected directors serve a two-year term. The term served by the appointed directors is determined by the organizations they represent.
