Whistler, B.C. – The Golf Whistler Passport is the B.C. and Washington State golfer’s ticket to the ultimate mountain golf experience.

From lush rolling lakeside greens to scenic mountainside slopes, Whistler’s four championship courses – the Arnold-Palmer designed Whistler Golf Club, Robert Trent Jones Jr.’s Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club, the Jack Nicklaus-designed Nicklaus North Golf Course and the Big Sky Golf and Country Club, designed by Robert Cupp, offer an unparalleled mountain golf experience – one that is easier than ever to master with the  Golf Whistler Passport.

Starting at $319 for the spring and fall pass (valid from opening day until May 31 and again from September 23 until the close of the season) the passport (available to B.C. and Washington residents only) offers a round of golf at each of the four area courses at a savings of up to 40 per cent each time you play. The passport is also available at $449 (valid anytime, including summer). If one round at each course isn’t enough to satisfy your Whistler golf needs, passport holders are invited to return in the spring/ fall for $69 and the summer for $99.

The Whistler golf season is in full swing as of this week, with all three Whistler courses joining Pemberton’s Big Sky Golf and Country Club which opened April 18. At Big Sky, May rates include: $89 (regular); $69 (twilight; 2 p.m.); and $49 (sunset; 4 p.m.). “We had a terrific opening weekend,” said Chris Wallace, General Manager at Big Sky Golf and Country Club. “The course is in fantastic shape and our guests are happy to be back out there. We’re looking forward to the season.”

The Whistler Golf Club opens May 3, celebrating its 30th anniversary with an early opening $49 rate valid until May 9 by booking online at www.whistlergolf.com with the promo code: arnie. In honour of the anniversary, 80s attire is encouraged. The WGC is offering May daily rates of $99 (regular); $69 (twilight; 3 p.m.) and $59 (sunset; 5 p.m. or nine holes anytime). In addition to the courses, the driving range at the Whistler Golf Club is open.

“The course is in the best early season condition we have ever seen,” said Alan Kristmanson, General Manager at the Whistler Golf Club, where last year’s installation of new greens is paying off.  “Our new bent grass greens have matured and wintered very well, as did the entire course,” he said. “With the good weather in the forecast, we anticipate a great start to the golf season in Whistler.”

The Whistler Golf Club is not alone in its optimism for the season. “Nicklaus North is in fantastic early season condition – the best we’ve ever seen,” said Michael Zuccolin, Nicklaus North General Manager. “Early season golf in Whistler has never been better,” he said. “And especially with the Golf Whistler Passport – golfers can expect great value and fantastic conditions at our remarkable mountain golf destination.”

Nicklaus North is offering an opening weekend special of a $69 green fee (using the promo code: NNOPENING at www.golfbc.com). In addition to this great rate, with every kilogram of non-perishable food items donated (benefitting the Whistler Food Bank, through the Whistler Community Services Society), an additional $2 will be deducted from the green fee (for a maximum of $20 for 10 kilograms of food donations). May is also free lesson month at Nicklaus North (limited spots, Friday through Sunday).

Rounding out the Whistler golf experience, the Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club will open May 4 with an opening weekend special of $79 per person, including cart. The daily rate in May is $115 and $85 for twilight (3 p.m. until close). Fairmont golf club guests staying at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler enjoy golf privileges including complementary, unlimited rounds of play on the same day of play following their paid round, complimentary, unlimited use of the practice facility throughout the stay when a round of golf is reserved at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club, and children golf for free.

“The Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Course is pleased to be opening ahead of schedule this year with the golf course already in fantastic shape and an abundance of wildlife making their way out of hibernation down onto the course. Guests can expect exceptional value for early season bookings,” said Nick Droulis, Director of Golf at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Course.
