Whistler, B.C. – Four of the top-10 Canadian resorts listed in Travel + Leisure magazine’s
2012 World’s Best Awards are Whistler properties while one local hotel
received one of the highest scores in Canada among Expedia’s Insiders’
Select list.
The Four
Seasons Resort Whistler was ranked third on the Travel + Leisure World’s
Best Awards (based on readers’ favourites), while the Fairmont
Chateau Whistler was ranked fifth, the Hilton
Whistler Resort & Spa debuted on the list at number nine and the Westin
Resort & Spa, Whistler took the tenth spot.
The complete list of the 17th annual Travel
+ Leisure World’s Best Awards is available on www.TravelandLeisure.com
and will be featured in the August digital editions as well as the
cover story of the August issue of the magazine, on newsstands July 20.
Results including the Top 100 Hotels, Top 50 Resorts in the Continental
U.S., Top 10 Cities Overall, and Top 10 Islands Overall, among other lists,
are now featured on www.TravelandLeisure.com/worldsbest.
Only five hotels in the country made Expedia’s
2012 Insiders’ Select list, with the Pan
Pacific Whistler Village Centre recording the second highest score in
Canada.
Expedia’s annual review identifies the top hotels available on all of
Expedia’s worldwide websites, based on quality and value scores. The
Expedia rankings, now in their sixth year, are determined by the more than
500,000 Expedia customer reviews received during the course of the 2011
calendar year. The list was released July 3, recognizing properties that
consistently deliver value in the form of competitive pricing, pristine
amenities and superior customer service.
Of the more than 150,000 properties represented on Expedia.ca, 650 are
designated as Insiders’ Select hotels and made the list after receiving a
minimum guest review score of 4 out of 5. Forty Canadian hotels were
included in the Insiders’ Select list with the Pan Pacific Whistler Village
Centre earning the second-highest score among Canadian properties (64),
behind only LHotel Montreal (59) in Montreal, Quebec.
“Whistler offers such an incredible array of accommodation options,”
said Jim Douglas, GM of the Pan Pacific Whistler properties and chair of
the Whistler Hotel Association. “To be recognized in such a way truly
reflects the quality of product that Whistler provides, as well as our
resort’s commitment to exceptional service,” he said. “Further, the Pan
Pacific is honoured to be included in such a fine group of properties.”
Tourism Whistler congratulates the local properties on their awards.
“Once again, we are honoured to acknowledge our accommodation members who
have earned such prestigious recognition,” said Barrett Fisher, Tourism
Whistler’s President & CEO. “We continue to be inspired by the work of
so many people in the resort who share a tireless commitment to providing
top-notch product and service to our guests.”
A detailed list of awards and accolades is located on Tourism Whistler’s
online
