Whistler, B.C. – Take the challenge and go for gold on July 29 as the Subaru IRONMAN Canada returns to Whistler. Racers will swim, bike, and run throughout Whistler’s rugged terrain in the ultimate triathlon series. Lock in your training and race week plans with a little room to enjoy some of the iconic sightseeing Whistler has to offer.

Scope out the route with a day in Whistler before the race; check out the facilities and put in some training hours in the water or along the Valley Trail. The Subaru IRONMAN Canada Whistler course will have racers swim, bike, and run throughout Whistler; stretching across lakes and across the forested and scenic Highway 99 and Valley Trail. Endurance will be tested with two swim loops in Alta Lake, a bike course from the peaks of the Callaghan Valley, and finally a 42.2 km run throughout the Whistler valley. Back again the Subaru IRONMAN 70.3 course, shorter than the headlining course, will take athletes through a 1.9 km swim, a 90 km bike, and a 21.1 km run on the same terrain as the IRONMAN Canada course.

Relax and raise a glass to victory; every racer deserves to celebrate crossing the finish line. Venture into the vibrant village towards the IRONMAN Village Expo where various booths featuring official race merchandise, exhibitors, and bikes shops will be located. Gather with family and friends for a sunny patio meal or meet up with fellow racers to toast success and share race moments. Later, soothe those sore muscles with a post-race massage at one of Whistler’s spas and experience deep relaxation. Take a walk along the Village Stroll spotted with restaurants, cafes, and boutique shops with the perfect gift.

The thrill doesn’t end at the finish line with numerous outdoor activities ready  to further test your limits or simply enjoy Whistler’s great outdoors. Paddle through a rushing river and get the adrenaline pumping with a white-water rafting tour. Get some hang time with a bungee jump over the Cheakamus River or get muddy with an ATV drive adventure on rugged terrain through Cougar Mountain. Go sightseeing with a ride on the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola for epic views of the Fitzsimmons Creek and mountain views. Rent a bike or take a hike along the many valley trails and around Whistler’s many lakes. Tee off at one of the four championship golf courses for an unforgettable round of golf with spectacular views.

Don’t miss out on the excitement of the big race by walking or biking along the Valley Trail to key spectator spots. Head out to Rainbow Park early morning to watch participants cross the start line or stay in the village and watch the action on the big screen in Olympic Plaza, adjacent to the finish line.
