Joerg Rodig joins Tourism Whistler Board of Directors
Whistler, B.C. – Joerg Rodig, General Manager of the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Whistler, has joined the Tourism Whistler Board of Directors.
While four board positions were up for election this year, all four spots were filled by acclamation and Rodig is the only new board member.
Rodig fills the position of Multi-Managed Village Lodging, previously held by Jim Allard.
After serving for more than two decades on the Tourism Whistler Board of Directors, Allard did not seek re-election in 2018.
The positions of Single Managed Lodging – Large, Multi-Managed Lodging – Other and Director at Large were also open to election this year. Those positions were filled by the incumbents: Norman Mastalir (Single Managed Lodging – Large), Ian Lowe (Multi-Managed Lodging – Other) and Tony Cary-Barnard (Director at Large).
The results were announced at Tourism Whistler’s Annual General Meeting held today at the Whistler Conference Centre.
Norman Mastalir, Tourism Whistler’s Board Chair, thanked all directors for their work and welcomed Rodig to the board.
“I would like to thank my colleagues for their commitment and offer congratulations to Joerg Rodig on joining the board,” Mastalir said.
Mastalir went on to recognize the efforts of Allard, who holds the distinction of being the longest-serving Tourism Whistler board member. “On behalf of the entire board, I would like to thank Jim for his valuable contributions over the years,” said Mastalir.
“Through his commitment to representing the interests of independent owners and his work in the areas of board governance and advocacy – not to mention his unwavering passion for Whistler – Jim has been a strong voice at the board table,” he said.
“We are fortunate, as a board, to attract such diverse and high-caliber talent to the table – each individual brings a unique skillset and valuable contributions which benefit not only the organization, but the resort as a whole.”
Tourism Whistler is governed by a 12-member Board of Directors – five appointed and seven elected.
Elected director positions include Commercial, Single-managed Lodging - Large, Single-Managed Lodging - Small, Multi-Managed Village Lodging, Multi-Managed Benchlands Lodging, Multi-Managed Other Lodging and Director-At-Large. Appointed director positions include two representatives from the Resort Municipality of Whistler, two representatives from Whistler Blackcomb and the President & CEO of Tourism Whistler.
Tourism Whistler Board nominees do not have to be members of Tourism Whistler; however they must be nominated by at least two members in good standing. All elected directors serve a two-year term. The term served by the appointed directors is determined by the organizations they represent.
