Whistler, B.C. –  December in Whistler is nothing short of magical and it’s not just Santa who delivers gifts here – Mother Nature has come through, with 123 cms of fresh snow in the last seven days.

Both Whistler and Blackcomb mountains are open and the season is off to a strong start, with a base of 177 cm, and the cumulative snowfall at 392 cms. The forecast is calling for sunshine over the next few days, with more snow predicted later in the week. Combine that with the energy of the holiday season, the festive decorations and lights adorning the village and an array of activities and events to enjoy, and you have all the ingredients for the perfect Whistler holiday.

Whistler hosts a myriad of special events and fun activities to help celebrate this magical time of year. Settle in to enjoy the Fire & Ice Show (every Sunday starting December 20 – March 27), bring the kids to the Whistler Holiday Experience at the Whistler Conference Centre (December 18 – January 3) and take advantage of the free Family Après (December 21 – March 30), alongside many other winter activities for the whole family to enjoy, such as sleigh rides, tubing, bobsledding, ice skating and snowmobiling.

At Ski Callaghan each Wednesday from 3 p.m., Whistler Olympic Park has tobogganing and snowshoeing for $5. Cross-country ski day passes are available for an additional $5.

And the fun doesn't stop there; celebrate the New Year in Whistler with family-themed entertainment, games, crafts and activities plus a special Fire & Ice Show followed by a spectacular fireworks show at midnight.

Be one of the first 100 people to show up dressed like Santa or Mrs. Claus at the base of Whistler Mountain on December 19 for a free lift ticket.
