Whistler, B.C. – The Sasquatch lives in Whistler, in the form of an exciting new zipline with Ziptrek Ecotours.
Following their recent announcement of the addition of a new zipline – the longest in Canada and the US – Ziptrek Ecotours has now revealed the name of the new attraction – The Sasquatch. Guests can catch the first sighting in mid-July when the brand new zipline is unveiled.
Whistler’s action-packed itinerary is set to grow to new heights with a surplus of new events, attractions and eateries.
It starts with The Sasquatch bridging the gap from Blackcomb Mountain to Whistler Mountain. At extreme elevation, the new line follows a similar path to the Guinness World Record-holding PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola. Much like the name suggests, The Sasquatch is set to be a mammoth experience, featuring spectacular 360 degree views, in an adrenaline packed ride of a lifetime. If you can roll out a yoga mat, you can join the experience at Whistler Olympic Plaza with yoga led by Rachel Scott. To register for the Lole White Tour CLICK HERE.
The Red Bull 400 makes its debut in Canada, transforming the ski jump (used at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games) in the Callaghan Valley into the steepest 400 metre vertical race in the world, testing participants' fortitude and ability. Full-distance, coed relay (4x100m), as well as firefighter/police/EMS relay (4x100m) race options are available. Registration ranges in price from $25 - $40 per participant and closes July 17. Mudderella, little sister of Tough Mudder, is a new event for Whistler, featuring 12-15 obstacles across an 8-11 kilometre course, designed by women – for women. This isn’t a traditional race, with the event centring on bringing people together to have fun and step out of their comfort zone. For more information CLICK HERE.
Whistler is a gastronome’s dream come true, featuring a smorgasbord of dining options at every turn. This summer, Whistler welcomes two fresh faces – Basalt Wine and Salumeria as well as Toptable Group’s newest restaurant – yet to be named.
The concept behind Basalt Wine and Salumeria centers on Chef Eric Gilchrist’s experience and travels. The new restaurant, opening this summer is located just a hop, skip and jump away from the base of Blackcomb and Whistler gondolas. Basalt Wine and Salumeria is going back to basics, in a rustic yet refined style; offering a traditional salumeria experience (purchasing cured and smoked meats over the counter). An old-world, hand-cranked slicer will act as the focal point for the new restaurant, allowing guests to watch their plate being prepared before their eyes.
Araxi, the first of Toptable Group’s now six-venue portfolio, has proven itself to be an award-winning dining experience over the past three decades in Whistler. This summer, the resort welcomes Toptable Group’s second Whistler location, with the name yet to be released. The new venue is said to offer a food and beverage experience that is not yet available in Whistler. With details on the new venue kept under lock and key, foodies, locals and tourists alike are left patiently waiting for the anticipated launch.
Summer in Whistler is anything but ordinary, from welcoming The Sasquatch, to offering a dynamic culinary marketplace, to hosting events and festivals galore, Whistler in summer is the accumulation of unique and exhilarating experiences.
