Sue Chappel re-elected to Tourism Whistler Board of Directors

Whistler, B.C. – Sue Chappel has been re-elected to the Tourism Whistler Board of Directors.

Chappel, the incumbent, will fill the Multi-Managed Benchlands Lodging director position for a term of two years after winning the seat over Bruce Okabe.

The election results were announced at the May 21 Annual General Meeting and Election of Directors, held at the Whistler Conference Centre.

“I would like to thank our candidates for putting their names forward to serve on the Tourism Whistler Board of Directors,” said Tourism Whistler Board Chair, Saad Hasan.

“The commitment of all candidates to this process, and to the organization, does not go unnoticed,” he said.

“We are fortunate to have enthusiastic, engaged candidates wanting to contribute to the board, the organization and the resort. Congratulations to Sue Chappel on being re-elected to the board. I speak for the entire group when I say we look forward to continuing to work with Sue in the coming years.”

In 2015, the board positions of Single-managed Small Lodging Director, Commercial Director and Multi-Managed Benchlands Lodging Director were all up for election.

In the category of Single-managed Small Lodging Director, Saad Hasan (incumbent) was the single candidate and therefore, elected by acclamation.

In the category of Commercial Director, Roger Soane was elected by acclamation. Incumbent Duane Hepditch did not seek re-election.

“I’d like to Welcome Roger Soane to the position of Commercial Director and also recognize Duane Hepditch for his commitment to the Tourism Whistler Board of Directors over the years,” added Hasan. “On behalf of the entire board, I would like to thank Duane for his many contributions.”

Tourism Whistler is governed by a 12-member Board of Directors – five appointed and seven elected. Elected director positions include Commercial, Single-managed Large Lodging, Single-Managed Small Lodging, Multi-Managed Village Lodging, Multi-Managed Benchlands Lodging, Multi-Managed Other Lodging and Director-At-Large.
