Whistler, B.C. – A panel of 11 judges sipped, sampled and savoured a breathtaking number of individually incredible wines to select the best of the best for Cornucopia presented by BlueShore Financial’s Top 25 wines.

“The Top 25 Celebratory Reception is an opportunity for us to recognizing the contribution that each winery makes to our festival.” says Dana Lee Harris of Dana Lee Consulting Ltd., wine events programmer for Cornucopia. “This event is an evening that is all about the wines and the people who make them.”

Each winery participating in Crush was offered the opportunity to enter wines they felt best made a quality statement, into the running for the Top 25 wine competition. The judges tasted in a closed tasting session before making their final selection.

Wine lovers and aficionados who want to taste these winning wines will have the opportunity on Saturday, November 9 in a casual setting at the Whistler Public Library. Tickets for the event are $35 and will sell out quickly. They can be purchased online at www.whistlercornucopia.com.

Cornucopia Faces + Places

Samantha Rahn - Wine Director, Araxi restaurant + bar
A passionate sommelier and world-traveler, Samantha arrived at Araxi in October, 2007 following a tour through Burgundy. Previously residing in Banff, Rahn was wine director at the award-winning Maple Leaf Grille for six years where she led the restaurant to numerous recognitions, including Wine Spectator’s ‘Best of’ Award of Excellence.

Trained at the Wine and Spirit Education Trust and with over 15 years of hospitality experience, Samantha sources exciting, value-driven wines to complement Araxi's highly acclaimed, 11,000 bottle library. In 2013, Samantha won the title of "Sommelier of the Year" at the Vancouver International Wine Festival and was recognized with the “Premier Crew Service Award” at the Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards. An accomplished musician, Samantha is also a former snowboard cross racer, certified snowboard coach and avid downhill mountain bike competitor.
