Whistler, B.C. – In true Whistler fashion, Canada Day is always an unforgettable celebration and with this year marking Canada’s 150th anniversary, it’s sure to be one for the books. Canada Day is officially on July 1, but the Canada Day long weekend will be chock-full of performances, parties, storytelling and unforgettable sights.

With so much to experience, here are the top 5 ways to celebrate this nationwide holiday in Whistler:

1. Oh, Canada
Breathe in that fresh Canadian air from the top of a mountain, learn the words to O Canada and sing them as you stroll the Valley Trail or cross between Whistler and Blackcomb mountains on the PEAK 2 PEAK gondola. Take in the views from your bike, hike or stroller as you explore the natural beauty this country is known for.

2. Pack your day
Start with the pancake breakfast at Olympic Plaza, the Canada Day Parade at noon, free locally made gelato from Lucia Gelato at 1:30 and hit the wine & beer garden from 6 - 10 p.m. Be one of the first 150 guests at the base of Whistler Mountain to score a free lift ticket, enjoy street entertainment throughout the Village, or stop by the Whistler Farmers' Market for a bit of locale fare. All on July 1!

3. Listen to the (free) music
Enjoy the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra performing a classic Canada Day themed music in the heart of the Village on July 1 and 2. The Whistler Institute Orchestra Student will be playing multiple free shows daily from June 30 – July 3, with a special mountain top show at the Roundhouse on Whistler Mountain at 2 p.m. on July 1. In Creekside, CLASSIXX, Viceroy, Neon Steve and Case of the Mondays will be turning things up a notch from 1 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Dusty’s free outdoor party.

4. Taste Whistler
Sample a local brew at one or all three of Whistler’s breweries. Reap the bounty from the Canadian soil at the Whistler Farmers’ Market. Or go through the Insider’s list of 10 Canadian treats and see how many you can sample before you’re sick.

5. Go deeper
Engage in an evening of storytelling at A Storytelling Celebration of Canada's 150th Anniversary with four established Canadian and Indigenous authors at the Squamish Lil’Wat Cultural Centre from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on June 30. Beyond that evening, visit the Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre for a look at Whistler’s history from the perspective of the First Nations of the region.

While Canada Day weekend promises to be a party, Whistler will carry on celebrating Canada 150 until the end of the year. From scavenger hunts to specials on food, drink and hotels visit www.whistler.com/Canada150 for all things Canada 150.
